Under the direction of the designated Supervisor or Manager, the Equipment Damage Rep is responsible for the investigation, evaluation and settlement (either by closure or collection of payment) of claims submitted by U-Haul for equipment damages. Working with other U-Haul Team members, the incumbant will obtain necessary documentation to complete the claim file including (but not limited to) contracts, estimates, police reports and current lessee contact information. This role includes the performance of a variety of duties which require working knowledge of U-Haul equipment and the claims system. Maintaining the integrity of proprietary information is an essential component of this position. Will review and Investigate U-Haul equipment damage claims, review Hotline/Incident only reports.

CAT Team Adjuster / Floater

This position is a dual role that may involve travel more than once a month to U-Haul Storage locations across the U.S. & Canada, that have suffered a loss to their storage units and their contents. When we are not travelling on CAT duty, the position is responsible for adjusting claims and supporting the adjusters in the claims division.

We are looking for a licensed claims adjuster to handle property damage claims both liability and general liability. While on call, the individual is prepared to lead a Catastrophic Disaster Recovery at a U-Haul Storage location where teams are created to conduct storage unit inspections and contents inventory with customers. Contents valuations and settlements are made directly with the customer on covered losses. The lead is responsible for coordinating the travel arrangements and will lead the recovery to include submitting a daily statistic report on the recovery efforts to U-Haul Risk Management. Advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems is utilized as large amounts of documentation from the loss location is uploaded.

Between travels this position covers the desks of several claims adjusters in their absence, by working their desk while they are on vacation or ill. This person will be responsible for the investigation, evaluation and settlement (either by denial, compromise or payment) of claims arising from physical damages to vehicles, property of customers and third parties (property damage claims, medium to large bodily injury claims and all personal injury protection.) The Adjuster will perform a variety of duties which require an in-depth knowledge of risks under management, products offered, and insurance investigation techniques within the claims office.

The function of the Claims Reporting Unit is to set up new claims for U-Haul Storage, U-Haul Equipment, Commercial Policy Holders and Managing General Agencies. In addition, the CRU provides other support functions for the Republic Western’s Field Claims Offices, the Commercial Claims Unit, the subrogation Unit and the Equipment Damage Unit. Duties include answering inbound calls and entering information into a PC based program.

Qualifications:

  • Customer service background
  • HS Diploma; able to type 30+ wpm
  • General clerical experience; able to use Microsoft Office
  • Good communication skills
  • Claims or insurance experience is a plus

    This is a fast paced environment; hours vary from 5:00am to 6:00pm. Candidates must be able to work evenings and weekends.
